Cody Webb is a multifaceted force in the American Alternative Rock Scene. Born and raised in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, amidst a backdrop of legendary recording artists, studios, and musical heritage, Cody’s journey into music began at a young age. Fascinated by the art of entertaining and driven by a passion for music, he picked up the guitar at the age of 8, swiftly mastering its intricacies and crafting his own songs within a mere two years.
Influenced by the iconic sounds of Rock, Blues, and Grunge, Cody honed his skills and soon found himself captivating audiences in his hometown. By the time he turned 11, he was already writing, recording demos, and sharing stages with local bands, igniting a spark that would fuel his musical ambitions.
At 13, Cody ventured into a professional studio for the first time, supported by his grandfather’s belief in his talent. The experience proved transformative, laying the foundation for his future endeavors. Undeterred by his young age, Cody self-produced his debut demo, showcasing his prowess on multiple instruments and vocals.
Fueled by an unyielding commitment to his artistry, Cody embarked on a journey of self-discovery, crafting his debut self-titled album at a mere 14 years old. Demonstrating his unparalleled versatility and dedication, Cody not only wrote all the songs but also performed every instrument, meticulously produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered each track. This self-titled album included 14 tracks, most notably “This Life,” showcasing Cody’s raw talent and evolving sound. With each subsequent recording, he relentlessly pushed the boundaries of his creativity, immersing himself fully in every aspect of the songwriting, recording, and production process. This relentless pursuit of excellence paved the way for Cody’s next solo release, “As It Seems,” marking a pivotal moment in his musical journey.
At the age of 16, Cody embarked on his next musical endeavor, recording the expansive album “As It Seems,” which featured an impressive collection of 20 tracks, including the fan favorite title track “As It Seems” and the hard rock anthem “That’s Just Me.” Showcasing Cody’s maturing sound and songwriting prowess, the album garnered significant attention, especially on college radio circuits, where it received considerable airplay. Notably, tracks from “As It Seems” caught the attention of Birmingham’s The X, marking the beginning of Cody’s radio exposure and further solidifying his growing presence in the music scene. Upon entering college at the University of Alabama, Cody’s musical journey reached new heights. Balancing academics with his burgeoning music career, he seized every opportunity to share his music, captivating audiences with his raw talent and infectious energy.
From 2003 to 2006, Cody Webb solidified his presence in the Tuscaloosa music scene through sheer talent and relentless dedication. Performing both solo and as part of the acclaimed acoustic duo Cody and Matt with fellow musician Matt Bradley, Cody captivated audiences throughout central Alabama becoming a staple act in the college circuit. Cody and Matt also performed in a band called Chasing Closer. Remarkably, they managed to deliver an impressive 200-300 shows per year during this period, showcasing their unmatched work ethic and passion for music. This relentless performance schedule laid the groundwork for Cody’s next venture, Ages Apart, as he continued to carve out his place in the music industry.
In 2006, Cody embarked on a new chapter, founding the band Ages Apart. Fueled by a shared vision and a hunger for success, the band quickly gained traction, captivating audiences with their electrifying performances. With Cody at the helm, Ages Apart wasted no time, recording a powerful three-song demo in Birmingham, AL, which served as a launching pad for their burgeoning career. They hit the ground running on the festival circuit, making notable appearances at festivals including City Stages, Montgomery Jubilee Festival, and the Buck Creek Festival. Their electrifying sound and captivating stage presence won over audiences, setting the stage for Ages Apart’s rise in the music industry.
In 2009, Ages Apart unleashed their debut album, “Can You Hear Me,” a sonic journey produced by industry veteran Travis Wyrick. Featuring standout tracks like “Burden,” “Last Time,” and the beloved rock ballad “I Believed,” the album showcased the band’s raw talent and emotional depth. With guest appearances from members of 10 Years, Pillar, and Kelly Clarkson, “Can You Hear Me” resonated deeply with listeners, earning airtime on Active Rock radio stations. The band’s collaboration with national music chain Hot Topic further amplified their presence in the alternative rock scene, solidifying Ages Apart as rising stars with a captivating sound and an undeniable impact. The band hit the road, independently touring the U.S. to promote the album, captivating audiences with their electrifying performances and building a dedicated fanbase across the country.
In 2015, Ages Apart unleashed their highly anticipated sophomore studio album, “S.T.A.T.I.C.,” marking a pivotal moment in the band’s sonic evolution. “S.T.A.T.I.C.” stands for See Through All The Intelligent Chaos, encapsulating the thematic essence of the album. With this release, Cody and his bandmates delved into an intense and multidimensional narrative, exploring themes of societal decay and personal introspection with raw honesty and unbridled passion. The lead single “Civil War” soared to the top of radio charts in many markets, including a spot in the top 100 nationally on Active Rock radio, further solidifying Ages Apart’s impact in the music industry. Following this success, Cody Webb’s collaboration with Hunter Watson sparked the electrifying Active Rock project, Call of All. In 2017, they unleashed their debut album, “War & Illusion,” featuring the anthemic title track that captivated audiences with its raw energy and poignant lyricism. The album quickly made waves, soaring to impressive heights on the Billboard Charts, reaching #3 on the Heatseekers chart and #19 on the Independent Albums chart. Notably, “War & Illusion” garnered attention from the music industry, earning consideration for a GRAMMY nomination. With its dynamic sound and thought-provoking themes, Call of All’s debut album solidified Cody and Hunter’s place as formidable forces in the world of rock music, leaving fans eagerly anticipating their next sonic venture.
Beyond his work with Ages Apart and Call of All, Cody is also a prolific producer and songwriter, nurturing emerging talent through his production company, Belmont Lane Productions.
